The history of Mordhau is extremely dark. In the west of Sweden there lies a small country with deep historical roots. Since its beginnings, the land has been part of a series of wars between Sweden and its northern neighbors. This war has lasted several centuries. While Sweden had been successfully conquering the Scandinavian countries, the rebellious tribes of the north decided to fight back. These tribes had been strongly opposed to the rule of Sweden for hundreds of years. Even when Sweden finally became a modern, highly industrialized country, the north was ruled by the powerful Viking tribes. The Viking tribes were not only warriors, but also great businessmen. They were the first to trade over large distances and their country was filled with their trading centres. However, as always happens in history, when Sweden started to become more powerful, the north rebelled. When Sweden became a major economic power, the Northern Tribes felt they were losing their power. At the same time, Sweden was becoming more and more Christian. The Vikings had been living with their own traditions and spirituality, and these were strongly opposing to Christianity. To fight back, the Northern Tribes started a series of wars. But the city of Stadskana, the northern-most trading centre of Sweden, fell into the hands of the north. It was considered to be a grave insult, and the whole country started a war to regain control of the city. When they conquered the city, the Northern Tribes invaded the whole country, further south of Sweden. During the war, the Vikings found a new weapon that was highly effective against human soldiers: A crossbow. These weapons were initially used against people in animal forms, but soon it was discovered that the crossbow was extremely deadly against human enemies as well. The crossbow changed the world of war completely. The
