Selon l'Evening Standard, quotidien britannique du soir, le contrat pour les dix premiers concerts pourrait atteindre 100 millions de livres (112 millions d'euros), soit le montant estimé des dettes du chanteur.
La star a virtuellement disparu des planches depuis sa dernière tournée mondiale en 1997 et, en particulier, depuis son acquittement en 2005 dans un procès retentissant où il était accusé d'attouchements sexuels sur un adolescent.
